Food aid: 27,000 people are supported in Calvados
In Calvados, 27,000 people could, at least once, benefit from food aid from the Food Bank in 2021. The departmental department cooperates with 46 local associations to ensure distribution of food.
“Every year in France, the national collection makes it possible to distribute around 10% of the 264 million meals intended for people receiving food aid”, explains Alain Andres, communications officer for the Food Bank in Calvados. In 2021, Calvados had the Food Bank collected the equivalent of 290,000 meals. “Solidarity between each and every one is essential. »
What to buy to give?
In the supermarkets where the collection will take place, 1,200 volunteers, dressed in Food Bank vests, will collect the donations at the entrance and exit of the shops.
