THE FIGHT CONTINUES AROUND BAKHMOUT (SOUTHEAST)
If the Russian gains are small around the city of Bakhmout, the fighting is no less fierce. According to the military sources of our special correspondent in Ukraine, Solène Riou, 50 to 100 people die every day. But the determination of the Russian troops remains intact: after suffering several military setbacks in recent months, the recapture of this city in the southeast is highly symbolic for Russia.

RUSSIA – IRAN: A MILITARY ALLIANCE THAT SHOULD BE STRENGTHENED
Iran’s support for the Russian military is likely to grow in the coming months. In return, Moscow is likely to offer Tehran an “unprecedented” level of military support, the British Ministry of Defense said.
The ministry said Russia had most likely used up much of its stockpile of its own SS-26 Iskander short-range ballistic missiles and therefore needed to acquire more weapons.
But if Russia gets its hands on a large number of Iranian ballistic missiles, it could expand its attack campaign against Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure despite the freezing winter.
According to the ministry, Iran has been one of Russia’s main military backers since it invaded Ukraine last February.
REVIEW OF THE LAST 24 HOURS HIGHLIGHTS

On the ground, nearly half of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been destroyed by Russian strikes, while intense heavy fighting continues around Bakhmout. TF1 Info takes stock.
NOBEL PEACE: AWARDED THIS SATURDAY
The Nobel Peace Prize laureates form a highly symbolic Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian trio and will receive their prize this Saturday at the beginning of the afternoon in Oslo in the presence of the Norwegian royal family, who are determined not to lower their arms in the face of Vladimir Putin and his Minsk Allies.
As a reminder, one is in prison, the other is officially disbanded by court order, the third is at work in a country invaded by the state the other: Nobel might want to put some balm in the heart.
