Doggies sometimes wreak havoc at a young age. Shoes, furniture, toys, everything is good to eat. But when they decide to attack an envelope full of banknotes, it’s another story! A Belgian man recently paid the price…
Gregory lives in Belgium in the company of a Golden retriever named Sally. The 8-month-old puppy is taking dog training classes with his master, and yet a recent behavioral lapse almost cost his owner dearly!
Sally went after an envelope full of cash

Before going to tinker in his garage, Gregory had placed behind a frame, on a sideboard, an envelope containing 2000 euros worth of banknotes. A sum that was to be used to put a deposit on a car, as he tells RTL Belgium. Except that when he returned, he discovered a pile of shredded bills on the floor, as well as on the dog’s cushion. As a result, more than half of the banknotes had been attacked by Sally ! (1100 euro)
Despite his dismay, Gregory was not angry with his young dog. ” I blamed myself cause I should have taken more precautions he says. He first tried to piece the notes together using sticky paper, but soon realized he couldn’t use the money in that state.

Gregory therefore inquired with his Liège bank, which redirected him to the National Bank of Belgiumat Brussels, the only one authorized to exchange torn banknotes. To be able to recover his money, it had to have been damaged involuntarily, and at least half of the ticket had to be intact. A way to prevent the person from coming to exchange their ticket twice. Lucky for Gregoryhis case ticked all the boxes!
Following thorough checks and a ten-day wait, Gregory went again to Brussels to get his money back. A misadventure that ends rather well. Gregory does not hold it against his young pup, but he will be extra vigilant in the future, there is no doubt!
