A rabid Husky bit several people in a shelter in Essonne

A 59-year-old man was arrested after reaching his husky to the ground and kicking him in the center of Lille (Nord).

First sign from October 19

On Tuesday the 25th, the health authorities had received a report of suspicion in a dog that had developed the first signs on the 19th before dying on the 25th.

“Given the incubation period, the dog must have had rabies before it arrived at the shelter,” the press release clarifies, adding that during the period of infection the animal remained “alone in its box or in a relaxation yard”.

A dog imported illegally from Morocco

ARS has also carried out studies for identify people who are potentially exposed to the dog during its contagious period (October 5 to 25). The bitten individuals were taken care of by the Institut Pasteur’s rabies center from the 26th.

The press release also reveals that the investigations, which are still ongoing, suggest that the dog could have been illegally imported from Morocco.
