A third of Belgians are ready not to pay their energy bill

A study on the climate and the energy crisis, carried out by the opinion polling institute Kantar in collaboration with La Libre and RTBF, shows that a third of the respondents plan not to pay their invoice energy if governments do not take adequate measures to help the population.

18-34 year olds are most determined not to pay

The other two-thirds believe that this solution is not possible for them. And it is in Wallonia that citizens could most easily switch to this refusal to pay, as 43% of respondents in the south of the country are in favor of it, compared to 28% in Flanders. In Brussels, the percentage of rebellious respondents is average.

When the results of this question are analyzed by age category, it is young people (18-34 years) who are most determined not to pay their invoice since they are 45% to register in this solution. This survey took place between October 10 and 17, 2022, 1,101 people were interviewed, and the maximum margin of error is 3.1% around the observed percentage (95% confidence interval).
