Ten restaurants, a bar-wine cellar and a large terrace which open this Monday, July 18 before a market of 12 stalls which will follow at the end of September at the end of the works… Designated by the interior designer Olympe Zographos and installed on 2,000 square meters after 7 million investment in the Cours d’Estienne d’Orves in Marseille, “Les grandes halles du Vieux-Port” dreams of becoming the unmissable gastronomic meeting place in Marseille.
Shellfish platters, Neapolitan pizzas, Spanish ham cellar, Street food, Italian trattoria, Lebanese restaurant as well as vegetarian options: all Mediterranean cuisine is celebrated just a stone’s throw from the Old Port.
Between 500,000 and one million customers and 150 jobs
“We’ve always wondered why there weren’t this type of halls in Marseilles when this is the case in other major cities in France. This is where this project, both human and gastronomic, was born: to open a unique place for sharing and exchange in a central district”, says Julien Fabre, co-founder of the halls with Laurent Battisti and Reza Zographos.
“Our common thread is to offer a synthesis of the best of Mediterranean cuisine with the quality of products and chefs. Our bet is that if someone wants to come and eat every day, we can offer them a different experience each time: family brunch, business meals, aperitifs with friends… We want residents and tourists to be able to quickly appropriate this new address”.
The founders expect between 500,000 and one million annual customers for a project that should ultimately lead to the creation of 150 jobs.
