Bastia Court of Appeal: the Advocate General requests confirmation of the first instance judgment against Valérie Bozzi

Bastia Court of Appeal reviewed this Wednesday afternoon the calls trained by Valerie Bozzi, Mayor of Grosseto-Prugnaand his companion, Sylvester Ceccaldiversus the judgment of the Ajaccio Criminal Court pronounced a year ago.

Valérie Bozzi had been sentenced for illegal taking of interests by an elected official to 4 months suspended prison sentence, a fine of 5,000 euros and three years of ineligibility. His companion had been sentenced for concealment of illegal taking of interests with the same sentence.

Justice accuses the elected of having chaired, in October 2016, a meeting of the municipal council of Grosseto-Prugna having focused on the transfer of the commercial lease relating to a plot on the beach of Porticcio belonging to the private domain of the municipality and on which is erected a private establishment, a straw hut. The holder of this lease subsequently retroceded it to SAS Alta Rocca managed by Sylvestre Ceccaldi.

“At this meeting, there was no declared buyer, the municipal council had simply been informed of the desire of the former holder of this lease to sell it”, explained at the bar, Valérie Bozzi.

The elected official is also accused of the allocation, in 2018, to SAS Alta Rocca of a concession relating to a space located on the beach in front of the establishment and where it has installed parasols and mattresses. The mayor of Grosseto-Prugna specified that there “had had an advertisement for the call for tenders and that no other application had been registered. I acted in total transparency, under the control of the prefecture, and in the interest of the municipality.”

The Advocate General requested confirmation of the judgment at first instance.

The defense attorneys, Mr.are Dominique Mattei and Sylvain Mosqueron pleaded for release.

The Court of Appeal reserved its decision on December 7.
