The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Morocco signed this Monday 7 November 2022 in Rabat two loan agreements to finance two support programs for the development of cereal cultivation and the generalization of social security coverage. Total amount: about 3 billion dirhams.
Fouzi Lekjaa, the ministerial delegate in charge of the budget, and Achraf Tarsim, resident representative of the AfDB National Office, continued on Monday, November 7, 2022 in Rabat for the signing of two loan agreements to finance the development support program that is competitive and resistant cereal crops for an amount of about 2.16 billion dirhams and the support program for the generalization of social security in the amount of about 944 million dirhams.
The aim of the first program is to contribute to the implementation of reforms capable of developing the productivity and resilience of cereal cultivation, to guarantee food security and reduce the country’s dependence on cereal imports. , it is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Economy. and Finance.
The purpose of the second program is to support the priority project on the generalization of social protection, in particular support for achieving universal health coverage, expanding the pension system, generalizing child benefits and improving the management and efficiency of the social security system.
At the end of this signing, the delegate of the Minister of Budget and the local representative of the AfDB national office expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the cooperation relations between Morocco and the AfDB and reaffirmed their desire to work to strengthen the cooperation between the two parties.
