Discarded as general waste, four puppies (one male and three females) under 24 hours old and of unspecified race, was invented Saturday 6 July 2024in the morning, in a trash can close to the Petit Jean brand in Tourlaville (delegated commune of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, Manche).
It was a lady who came across these featherweight (between 145 and 177 grams) and have them taken to the vet of the Cherbourg metropolitan area.
She also stated that she noted the license plate number of a vehicle that may have been involvedabandonment. She left her phone information and name with the office.
Lack of time and availabilitythe veterinary practice then contacted the association 40 En Chats to take care of the puppies that had suffered fromhypothermia.
Doubt about the origin
“When we tried to contact the person who discovered the puppies in a trash can three times, they were uncooperative,” explains Nathalie, a volunteer at the association, who says she has “doubts about the truth of the facts”.
“She doesn’t know the name of the street where the bin would be located. She went back and forth several times. She refuses to share the listed registration number. She refuses to give her address and hangs up after stating that she has taken care of the problem. »
ONE complaint will be filed in the coming days by the association “for abandonment, mistreatment due to lack of care, acts of cruelty,” the volunteer specifies. She will be charged with breach of trust if it turns out that whoever found the puppies lied. »
For members of the association who registered on Monday 8 July d death of one of the four puppies, is there neglect from the owner of the dog.
“They let her give birth to her babies before taking them away and abandoning them. They shirked their responsibility. It’s intolerable. If the dog had been sterilized, none of this would have happened. Owning an animal is a serious commitment.”
And the association launched one call witnesses : “If you noticed questionable behavior around a public garbage can in this area, on the morning of July 6, if you noticed a female dog estimated to weigh between 5 and 10 kg, pregnant, which has definitely given birth to puppies, probably July 5, do not hesitate to contact our association.
