Dodgers ready to declare war on the Yankees?

Speculation is rife about the Los Angeles Dodgers and free agent Aaron Judge.

Those were fueled by the California organization’s decision not to offer outfielder Cody Bellinger arbitration on Friday. The latter pocketed $17 million last year and logically would have earned a raise by going before an arbitrator.

The 27-year-old athlete thus became a free agent.

“It didn’t go the way we all hoped or expected and as a result we had to make the difficult decision to release him,” Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told the website. Major league baseball.

“We are interested in a return [de Bellinger] and we are continuing discussions with Cody and his representatives,” he added.

In 144 games, Bellinger hit .210 and hit 19 homers in 2022. He also struck out 150 times in 504 plate appearances.

Returning to Judge, the 30-year-old outfielder is the most coveted free agent this offseason. The Sacramento, Calif., native is coming off a stellar season in which he struck out 62 times in a New York Yankees uniform.

According to the major league website, the Dodgers are strong contenders in the umpire’s derby. The Bronx Bombers would also still be in the game. They were also said to have made a new contract offer recently.

Last spring, before the first game of the 2022 season, Judge rejected a seven-year offer worth a total of $213.5 million from the Yankees.
