The price positioning of the RTX 40s continues to be debated. If the RTX 4090 was able to seduce the wealthy, the price of the RTX 4080 has a hard time passing with PC fans. Its poor numbers testify to the malaise. Because the debate for the first time only focuses on the price, the qualities of the card are not subject to discussion. TechPowerUp has therefore decided to survey its readership to determine the amount that would be “acceptable” for a buyer (despite all the wealthy) looking to buy the new Nvidia RTX 4080. If the amount of responses that our colleague has achieved is very significant (almost 11 000 answers) you must always be aware of the relevance of certain answers. Thus, we have 13% of voters who believe that the right price for an RTX 4080 would be $400.
But overall, for 44% of people, the “fair” price of such a card should be between $700 and $800. A nice sum if we bring it back to European prices with an unfavorable conversion rate and higher taxes… In such a position we would still get around 900 or even 1000€. Of course, we are not in a utopian world where the customer himself determines the price of the product he wants to buy. But overall, it’s interesting to note that the respondents are more reasonable than we think (2% of voters think the price of 4080 is fair).
Unfortunately, if a message of this type reaches Nvidia’s ears, we think that instead of penetrating, it will only bounce 😉
