In 2018, after the Parkland killings, sales of backpacks had tripled.
These binders are mainly purchased online from 140 dollars. Although they can prevent serious injuries, they do not offer not an absolute guarantee, according to the designers. So they do not cover all parts of children’s bodies and they are only tested to withstand 9mm bullets or shotguns. But they will not store the ammunition of assault weapons, often used by attackers, as was the case in Uvalde.
