Nice Christmas present for two animal shelters in Hainaut. A lady without an heir has just bequeathed part of her house to them. A significant and very useful financial return for associations. This kind of donation is far from an isolated case.
Philippe, the manager of a shelter, did not expect it. Their guardian angel came by regularly to walk the dogs. In his will, half of his house was bequeathed to them.
“Fortunately we have people like that and I’m very happy, it’s a small miracle that will help us last a little longer and be able to take care of the animals”entrusts Philippe Lengellethe manager of the shelter.
Two shelters appear in the will and will share the money from the sale of the house. A more than welcome envelope. “When we paid for 4,000 liters of heating oil. When you have electricity or water bills coming in. Wages, general operating costs, vet costs… You should know that it is more or less 20,000 euros a year in veterinary expenses.”Sandra explains Marcianellia volunteer.
This is not the first time that this refuge has benefited from a grant. Associations working for animal welfare regularly find themselves in the wills of people who have no legal heirs.
“Very often we realize that they love animals and that they have them at home, sometimes one and sometimes several. We feel that there is an attraction to the animal world. We then manage to have donations, which sometimes come with conditions, such as saying that such an association must welcome their animals for a certain time”, says Sylvain Bavariaspokesperson for the notary association.
After the associations that welcome animals, scientific research and in particular foundations against cancer appear at the will of isolated people.
