A psychologist, hired by Johnny Depp’s lawyers as part of the defamation lawsuit he is bringing against his ex-wife, said Tuesday that Amber Heard suffered from personality disorders.

Shannon Curry, clinical and forensic psychologist, presented this diagnosis after having evaluated, in December 2021, the 36-year-old actress over a period of 12 hours. She indicated that people with the disorders seen in Amber Heard “can react violently”, adding that they “often have abusive behaviors towards their partners”.

“As sophisticated and cute and feminine” as these people may be, Shannon Curry said, they “can actually be very destructive,” “dramatic, erratic, and unpredictable.” They possess an “underlying drive not to be abandoned but also to be the center of attention.” According to her, the actress has characteristic traits of borderline people who are “aggressive as partners. They make threats using the legal system, threaten to ask for a restraining order, denounce abuses…”. The clinician also felt that Amber Heard had “grossly exaggerated” the symptoms of post-traumatic stress from which she could have suffered as a result of alleged domestic violence.

The actress’ lawyers sought to discredit this testimony, arguing that the psychologist had been hired by the opposing party. They asked Shannon Curry about potential bias, noting that she dined and drank with Johnny Depp and his lawyers at the actor’s home before he was hired. Curry said it was just part of the interview process. “I report scientific facts regardless of what they tell us,” the psychologist replied.

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star has repeatedly assured that it was actually the actress who kicked him.

The testimony about Amber Heard’s psychological evaluation came on the ninth day of the trial in which Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation after she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse in 2018 in an article by the Washington Post.

Married from 2016 to 2018, the former spouses accuse each other of defamation during this trial, very followed and partly broadcast on American news channels.

He is claiming $50 million in damages because she allegedly caused him to “lose everything”. She is asking for 100 million, claiming that Johnny Depp subjected her to “constant physical violence and abuse”.
