A kitten left in a yard was taken in by a lonely puppy. They repaired each other in an unusual way.
Hazy and HopperYoloCountySPCA
Hopper, the cream tabby kitten, was just a few weeks old when he was found outside without his mother or siblings.
Left in a family’s backyard, he was lonely and longed for a mother’s care. When his finders brought him to the Yolo County SPCA, they knew just the right foster family for him.
“He was a baby without a mother, but not for long,” the Yolo County SPCA said.

In a loving foster home, a dog named Hazy eagerly awaited Hopper’s arrival.
Hazy came to the SPCA from a local shelter after she was found as a stray. “The staff soon found out she was pregnant and it wasn’t long before she had her babies. Unfortunately, none of her babies survived and Hazy was depressed and missed being a mother. She spent the first night in his nursing home and cried.”

When she saw the new kitten and heard his cry, her eyes lit up, like a ray of sunshine lighting up her world. “Hazy’s foster mom offered to take Hopper in, and Hazy wasted no time accepting Hopper as her own.”
The kitten was over the moon to have a mother who was happy for him. He immediately nuzzled into her belly and tried to nurse, and Hazy lovingly hesitated.

While Hopper was bottle-fed to meet his nutritional needs, he received constant attention from his adoring new mom, who was totally committed to him. “These two have become the sweetest little family and we are so glad we got to save them both.”
Together they began to heal from their pasts and mend each other’s hearts. “Hazy has blossomed into a fun and loving little ball of energy and Hopper continues to be a lively and happy kitten.”
They share an inseparable bondYoloCountySPCA
Hazy treats Hopper like his own “son” and showers him with unconditional love. They are inseparable, like two peas in a pod.
“They spend all day playing and cuddling together and it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with their special bond. Hazy is fully grown and weighs about eight pounds. Hopper is still very much a baby and has plenty of growing to do.”

Hazy thrives on being the center of attention and loves to play tag with Hopper. “She’s quick to make herself comfortable in your lap.”
Mare is bursting with orange-cat energy. He zooms around the house and gets into all kinds of trouble. He likes to wrestle with Hazy, who matches his unbridled energy and tolerates all his antics.

After their playful adventure, Hopper curls up next to his mother dog and rocks himself to sleep. They find comfort in each other and bring endless joy and laughter to their people.
At night, the two best friends settle into their favorite spot in bed with their people and fall asleep side by side.

“While their stories both began with tragedy, they have both shown how resilient cats and dogs can be.”
