Los Angeles Lakers (DR) / NBA (DR)
The Lakers’ overhaul plans continue to fascinate the NBA community as they are meant to be diverse and varied. The latest in particular involves an Eastern Conference star that Angelinos would be willing to shell out!
Even in seasons where they dominate the competition in the West, their name keeps popping up in trade rumors. This is therefore unlikely to change as they go through a difficult campaign. The Lakers have experienced the latter scenario in recent weeks and thus find themselves at the heart of discussions about a possible future move to improve their failing workforce.
Between a lack of outside address, rotation on the wing or talent in the interior sector, the holes to be filled are numerous for the Angelino front office. The targets examined in the market are therefore equally, and even include astounding profiles, as an elder in the house. One of them would stand out, however, and would especially make the leaders’ mouths water.
The Lakers more than seduced by a star from the Bulls
Among the franchises likely to upset their roster after poor results, the Bulls have greatly intrigued the Lakers over the past few days. The latter actually would views on DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic… but not only. In the columns of Yahoo SportsJake Fischer reports that Zach LaVine would turn heads in the City of Angels:
The Lakers are sure to keep track of how the Bulls’ season progresses. They dream of a player like Zach LaVine and would be ready to go all-in for him by sending the two future first-round picks they have back, though the whispered idea of trading Russell Westbrook for Vucevic or DeRozan seems a lot more realistic if Chicago were to abandon its postseason ambitions.
In other words, even if the Purple & Gold continue to look at the Chi-Town winger, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to acquire him. Either way, a Westbrook departure seems less and less up in the air as Rob Pelinka and his deputies try to get rid of yet another package:
Los Angeles’ main pursuit right now revolves around another leaner package of Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn and a future 1st-round pick, sources say Yahoo Sports.
Anyway, given the poor success of this proposal for now, the LA staff could decide to reintegrate Russ into the negotiations!
Always looking for that big shot that could allow them to reach a new level, the Lakers would have checked the name of Zach LaVine with this in mind. In any case, it will be necessary to wait until January 15th before the latter becomes available!
