This course was held on the grounds of the Agility Obedience Canin club. After a theoretical part and a presentation of the activity on Saturday morning, the 15 “Dog-masters” pairs from all over Burgundy were able to set off on different routes and test the activity. The explanations of Bernard Charolles president of the Territorial Canine Activity Education Commission of Burgundy at the initiative of this discovery weekend.
“Dogs go through hoops, through high tunnels and around barrels. It’s an activity where there are no jumps, it’s not restrictive like Agility can be, it’s for older dogs who don’t want or can’t jump anymore, or to masters who do not want to race. The master is contained in a square of 4 meters by 4 meters. But it can also interest young dogs to educate them, it is a good preparation for Agility, because the dogs work at a distance, far from the master. It’s an activity that comes from the United States via Belgium, Switzerland, England…and has been established in France for three years now. Our federation wants to develop it. And we at Le Creusot are always fans of new things like this…”.
We should add that this discipline for all sizes and breeds of dogs will soon be presented in the north of Burgundy, will follow a course for instructors so that they become “official instructors” and can then develop the activity in their respective clubs.
