The Meuniers club no longer knows its members’ enthusiasm for the oval ball. An observation lamented by the office, headed by Gaby Dias, regarding the activities offered by the club, especially bus trips to matches away from the FCL: “It is becoming more and more difficult to attract crowds in all stadiums, including the Moulin, notes Gaby Dias. We launched buses without success, even for the trip to Limoux. Thirty registered and only 16 present! It was too late to cancel the bus. We are also seeing a decline in membership card sales“. The context of the health crisis has seriously slowed down the attendance and motivation of supporters, but that does not explain everything: “Almost more warmth, smiles, kindness, passion and encouragement in the stands, even though FCL was champion in 2021, which is more against ASC. That day, only a chartered bus and stands animated almost entirely by the young people in the club. Where was the horde of green and white suckers that we knew?“, laments the secretary Marguerite Pibouleau. The sporting performance of the FCL is not independent of this lack of enthusiasm, according to the president: “In recent years, the show was not updated. The last semi-final (2022) left us with a bitter taste, yet it is a so-called XXL team, as the neighboring clubs say. Fortunately, they become minimal champions in France. We duly honored them with a ceremony and their photo is on our new season ticket“. This year the Elite workforce presents more stars and the Meuniers will continue to support their club, especially by organizing bus trips. Note that the association also supports the young people at the rugby school through the provision of jerseys, the organization of meals or snacks, the contribution to the Lacans- the tournament… and an eco-environment campaign at the stadium with the sale of eco-cups, for less waste in the stands.
