LFI and RN “ready” to return to the campaign in the event of dissolution of the National Assembly

The two opposition parties are preparing for a potential dissolution of the semi-circle, while Emmanuel Macron has waved the threat in the event of a vote of no confidence.

MP LFI Clémentine Autain, like her colleague from RN Sébastien Chenu, said this Sunday, each on their side, “ready” to return to the voters in the event of the dissolution of the assembly, where the government has only a relative majority.

LFI considers a resolution “likely”

“We are ready. Not only do we have the ideas, the project, the applications, but we have even stored paper in case of a hasty dissolution” to print leaflets, creeds or bulletins, assured Clémentine Autain on Radio J.

Assessing that a dissolution is “probable”, without knowing the “concept”, the elected representative of Seine-Saint-Denis favored such a possibility, being “not satisfied with the political balance today”. “I think the macronion does not have the majority to do what it is doing,” she pleaded.

Clémentine Autain also sees it as a way for Emmanuel Macron, who has already voiced the threat of dissolution if the government was brought down by a vote of no confidence, to “keep his ranks, because it is already starting to get tired, it is already starting to compete in the macronion”.

“You should never be afraid to go back to the people,” she said.

The only party in the RN to advance in an opinion poll

Same speech on the other side of the political spectrum. “It doesn’t scare us”, gushed at the same time the deputy RN Sébastien Chenu on BFMTV.

“We are ready because we are a party of militants with men and women who want to seize power to implement a different policy”, added the vice president of the assembly. “We are ready to go to the campaign, we are ready to rule the country”, hammered the elected representative for the Nordic region.

“If the French want (…) to entrust this majority to the National Rally to pursue a different policy, we will not run away,” he insisted.

The elected representative from the north has reason to see this possible decision with a good eye: the RN would emerge strengthened from a dissolution of the assembly, with the prospect of 21% of the votes overall against 19.2% last June, according to an Ifop- Fiduciary study published in JDD this Sunday.

It would even be the only party to benefit from a breakup, since Renaissance and Nupes would see their number of seats stagnate (27% and 25%), or even drop slightly for the left-wing coalition.

The government is delaying

Despite these statements, government spokesman Olivier Véran rejected the idea of a coming dissolution this Sunday on France 3. “I do not live in a frame of reference that would consist in giving an expiration date to the National Assembly entrusted to us by the French,” said he.

Before you hammer: “I think the French don’t want (dissolution)”.

Same story on the side of the Minister of Agriculture, for whom “the terms are not set today for a resolution”. Such a decision would only be justified in the event of “institutional blockage strong enough that we may be in an impossible situation”, Marc Fesneau assesses this Sunday at France Inter.

Emmanuel Macron warned in September of the threat of a breakup, just three months after the general election, if the opposition allies in a vote of no confidence to topple the government.
