A man was arrested on Thursday morning in Mosel, suspected of filming himself cutting up a cat, the Paris prosecutor’s office in Sarreguemines told Le Parisien, confirming information from BFMTV. Born in 2002, he was remanded in custody.
According to several media outlets, videos posted on social networks had been reported to the authorities in recent days. It showed a young man skinning a dead cat with a knife.
The police would also have received screenshots of messages sent by this young man to other people, in which he would explain having shot a lead bullet into the head of his cat before cutting it open, Lorraine Actu tells.
A specialized brigade created at the end of October
“The facts have been reported and taken into account. They were taken up to the general staff as well as to the Saint-Avold police station, ”indicated on Wednesday that the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP), contacted by the scene.
An investigation was opened on Wednesday for acts of cruelty committed on a domestic animal at the parquet floor in Sarreguemines and handed over to the police station of Saint-Avold in Mosel.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on October 28 the creation of a new service consisting of 15 police and gendarme investigators specialized in the fight against animal cruelty and attached to the Central Office for Combating Attacks on Animals, the Environment and Public Health (Oclaesp).
