NHL: Sharks ready to listen to Erik Karlsson trade

Unlike the rest of the San Jose Sharks, defenseman Erik Karlson is off to a strong start to the season, so he could give his general manager some work.

The hockey informant of TSN Chris Johnston made it known during the segment Insider trading that the team’s general manager, Mike Grier, said he was ready to listen to offers if some of his colleagues called to try to get Karlsson’s services.

The 32-year-old defender has an annual salary of $11.5 million until the end of the 2026-2027 campaign. Johnston also recalls that he has a no-movement clause that limits his general manager’s work.

Karlsson has already collected 10 goals and 12 assists in 17 games this season. Last season he had 35 points in 50 games.

The Sharks have won just five in 17 games this season for sixth place in the Pacific Division.
