The justice of the Pyrénées-Orientales loses one of its greatest figures: Me Etienne Nicolau is deceased last night, his relatives announced. Tenor of the Bar of Perpignan, the criminal lawyer had 76 years old.
Perpignan: Me Étienne Nicolau is deceased
According to the Independent, Étienne Nicolau had been fighting for several years against disease. He had pleaded in nearly 400 trials during his long career. He was notably the lawyer for the civil parties in the trial of Patrick Tissier, nicknamed “the ogre of Perpignan”, in 1993.
“The ogre of Perpignan”, the “disappeared from the station”…
Me Étienne Nicolau was also thefamily lawyer of the “disappeared from the station” for several decades, until the trial of Jacques Rancon, early 2018, before retiring a few months later.
His speaking skills, her singular voice and his iconic charisma helped build his reputation. His love for justice and the criminal cases, he had also transmitted it to the listeners of France Blue Roussillon for several years, telling the most striking and unusual criminal chronicles of Perpignan and the Eastern Pyrenees, with a passion still intact.
