By multiplying the steps, more than 300 employees of Haute-Garonne Health Insurance have made possible €10,000 in donations to support an association that accompanies cancer patients and their loved ones. The challenge took place within the framework of Pink October and the fight against female cancers.
For the seventh year, the primary health insurance fund (CPAM) of Haute-Garonne has supported the mobilization of Pink October in the fight against breast cancer. The event “Le Défi: l’aventure solidaire” gathered more than 300 employees between 3 and 14 October around a digital sports challenge that combines physical activity, team spirit, togetherness and solidarity. For 12 days, the participants took as many steps as possible to increase the donation counter for the benefit of the association Etincelles Occitanie, which helps cancer patients and their relatives.
With more than 36.7 million steps taken (ie an average of 10,150 steps per day and per participant), the mobilization raised €10,000.
Personalized and free programs for cancer patients
The association Etincelles, the recipient of €10,000, will thus be able to continue the free personal Onco’Vie program that it offers to people affected by cancer, which is available in different activities supervised by professionals: adapted physical activity, psychological support, wellness and beauty activity, support for retention and return to work, information meetings, support for children of sick people. These activities are deployed in Toulouse and Montpellier as well as Béziers, Clermont, Sète, Balaric les 8, Nîmes, Palaja (Carcassonne), Millau and Lavelanet.
