After being rescued from the streets with her kittens, this cat was constantly hiding, terrorized by humans.
Stephen and francis are a couple of volunteers for the shelter Montreal Orphan Kittens. Late last year, they noticed movement under their neighbour’s balcony in the middle of the night. They then found a mother cat and her three babies, all intimidated.
Babies didn’t take long to dare to come and eat
Stephen left food not far from the felines to attract them. Hungry, one of the kittens was quick to approach to help himself.

Stephen managed to catch him and bring him to safety in his house. But for the other cats, things were more complicated. They fed, but did not allow themselves to be captured.
The next morning, Stephen came back and set a humane catch trap. In less than an hour, the whole family was there. The felines were then taken to the shelter.
The kittens quickly became familiar with humans, but not the mother
The mother cat, named Madisonand her little ones, have joined a foster family so that they can socialize.
The kittens very quickly got used to contact with humans, but for Madison, it was not the same case. She was always hiding in a narrow space between a wall and a bed. And when someone approached, she was in a defensive posture. However, after a few scratches on the head, she eventually calmed down.

Madison gradually made small progress. For example, she agreed to settle in her cat basket, which was a first victory.
Madison continued her socialization work in a new home
The cat then moved to a new foster family with a calmer environment. This allowed him to gain confidence and come out of his shell. “She was still shy, but curious about her surroundings“, Told Celine Cromfrom the shelter Montreal Orphan Kittensat lovemeow. “She gets closer to her family and is now taking a nap near them.“
After 6 months of socialization, Madison is ready. She is now looking for a forever home who will be patient with her shyness.
