The Advocate General asks for the maximum sentence for the “life poisoner” of the Alpes-Maritimes

Accused of having caused the death by poisoning of a nonagenarian in Le Cannet, a former business manager has been on trial at the Assizes of the Alpes-Maritimes in Nice since Monday May 23, 2022.

After four debates, the Advocate General on Friday May 27 requested the maximum sentence, ie 22 years in prison, against Olivier Cappelaere for the poisoning of Jacqueline Imbert, 92 years old.

This fifties is accused of having caused, in 2014, the death of his nonagenarian neighbor living in Le Cannet. The latter had made the accused her universal legatee after befriending him.

Olivier Cappelaere has already been sentenced to 20 years in prison in March 2019 for having tried to kill an octogenarian retiree. He acquired on this occasion the nickname of “life poisoner”. At the time, he admitted having poured dog eye drops into the glass of water of this retiree, whose apartment he owned for life. The victim had survived. He appealed the decision.
