There are about forty Secours Populaire volunteers in the Carhais branch on rue Renan, but many participate in the activities occasionally. They only have a good dozen regulars to secure the hotlines, and want new volunteers to join them.

The Tuesday service, from 10, is mainly reserved for the registration of beneficiaries, who are more and more numerous in the current difficult economic context.

A call for donations of Christmas toys

This week, the duration of Tuesday was mainly devoted to sorting and boxes for sale, which was organized this Sunday, November 30, in Les Halles.

The low prices already practiced will usually be really reduced on all products: clothes, household linen, books, crockery, small furniture, knick-knacks, toys… There will be a small catering with pancakes and cakes.

This sale will be the third event of the year organized by Secours populaire in Carhaix, following the sale in March and the garage sale on September 4. The goal is also to collect as many toys as possible so that they can be distributed at Christmas time.

Food distribution on Wednesdays

In addition, the doors to the premises are open for food distribution every Wednesday from 9.30 to 16.30, taking into account the lunch break. Some fresh produce is bought organically from Esat in Glomel, but the branch is short of cash as it has fewer European funds.
