Touring acquired by AG and BNP Paribas Fortis

Written by Olivier Duquesne on

Touring will be co-owned by the insurance company AG (75%) and the bank BNP Paribas Fortis (25%). But this only concerns the limited company that deals with insurance and assistance. Not the tour club.

Summary :

Touring SA was taken over. It is now owned by AG (75%) and BNP Paribas Fortis (25%), its partners since 2019. It is understood that car insurance, breakdown assistance and travel insurance contracts will be managed by AG, while retaining the Touring brand. This is unlikely to change for Touring customers, although these insurance products will be AG contracts. Touring carries out almost 680,000 interventions per year in roadside assistance alone. With this acquisition, Touring also wants to strengthen its mobility solutions and services.

Tour club

In addition, the commercial and operational activities of the non-profit organization Touring Club Royal de Belgique (TCRB) will be transferred to the limited company Touring or to AG. However, the activities of the motorist defense will remain independent and within the non-profit organization TCRB, which will not be dissolved. All of this will be completed by mid-2003, subject to the fulfillment of prerequisites such as approval by the Belgian competition authorities and regulatory authorities.
