The Russian ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov commented on the recent visit of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyin USA. For the Russian diplomat, this is just a sign that the United States and Ukraine “not ready for peace”. This interview, which he gave to the TASS news agency and which was reported by CNN, was also an opportunity for him to comment on Washington’s position in this conflict between his country and Ukraine.
“Today, no one hides the real goals of the White House’s policy from us. On every television channel, political commentators talk about the need to intensify the American proxy war against Russia.”, he lamented. For him, the situation in Ukraine is just being used by Washington for its own “proxy war” against Russia. He believes that as things stand, the conflict could degenerate into “a clash between the two great powers”.
These words from the Russian diplomat in the United States come in a context where the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky left his country for the first time since the beginning of the war for a trip to the United States. This trip allows him to get other military support from his American ally. In addition to new aid that will be given to Ukraine, the United States will make Patriot missiles available to it. The new Patriot Missile Battery “will be an important asset in the defense of the Ukrainian people against Russia’s barbaric attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure”especially noted in a White House briefing.
