USA: A small plane crashes on a beach in Santa Monica, killing the city’s former mayor

An accident took place this Thursday at the end of the day on a Californian beach.

A small plane crashed on the crowded beach near Santa Monica’s famous pier, killing the city’s former mayor…

At the age of 95, Rex Minter, the only occupant of the plane, a single-engine Cessna, which we see in the videos, flew over the beach before crashing into the sand after an attempted emergency landing.

According to the TMZ site, the plane had made an emergency call shortly after takeoff and the pilot had indicated that he was trying to land on the sand, which he said seemed to be the only possible option.

The accident caused a wave of excitement, the beach was crowded for this time of year, and while hikers enjoyed the mild weather rather in the United States these days.

Rex Minter served as the city’s mayor between 1963 and 1967 before becoming a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.
