The association Stephane Lamart indicates Wednesday, June 15, 2022 by means of a press release that a man residing Yvetot (Seine Maritime) who had appeared on April 12 before the police court of Rouen for having left his dogs without care for a year and for several days without water or food has been condemned. The court delivered its deliberation on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

The investigator found that the two Shih Tzu-type dogs lacked care, food and water and were in an advanced state of thinness, with parasites and unkept glued hair. They lived in a garden filled with excrement and urine and had no basket or blanket.

A dead dog was also in the owner’s garden. “The deceased dog was evacuated by a veterinarian. He had a piece of fabric 40 cm long in his stomach. According to the post-mortem report, the obstruction caused by the foreign body in the stomach, together with the cachexia and the lack of care, probably indirectly caused the death of the animal. The extreme cachexia of the animal demonstrated an obvious lack of care, according to the veterinarian, ”reports the association again.

He gives up his dogs without remorse

The dogs did not have a health book and were not identified, they were taken care of by the association.

The owner gave up the dogs without remorse, stating that he no longer had time to take care of them since the death of his wife.

The court rendered its judgment on June 7, 2022, therefore. “The defendant was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of €150 per dog for the acts of deprivation of care. In addition, he was sentenced to a fine of €35 per dog for the facts of keeping unidentified dogs. The man will also have to pay the Stéphane Lamart association €500 in damages and €300 in legal costs.

The confiscation of the two dogs was ordered.
