In Chad, the lawyers for the victims of the Sandana massacre say they are worried. Three weeks after the facts, the collective of lawyers questions the way in which the legal procedure is carried out. As a reminder, on February 10, in the Moyen-Chari region, a group of herders accusing peasants of having murdered one of their own landed in the village of Sandana and murdered twelve people. A government mission went to the scene, a commission of inquiry was set up. The lawyers recall the need for independence and transparency of the debates.

Justice must do its job and within the rules of the art. This is the requirement of the group of lawyers who claim not to know much about the procedure announced by the authorities the day after the Sandana massacre. For master Midaye Guérimbaye, “ as I speak to you, we have no information on any charges. We heard that people are charged, by which court, who has what jurisdiction, in relation to what offence? We do not know it. We simply have that the complaints of the civil parties were filed by us. »
The interference of the political authorities is feared
What the collective of lawyers says they fear is the interference of the political and administrative authorities in the management of this type of conflict by proposing solutions outside the legal framework. Me Midaye Guérimbye: “ It is up to those involved in the justice system to ensure that trust is established and that time is not wasted distributing banknotes, but that anyone who commits a crime, an offence, a fine finds himself face to face with the state. »
This press conference is organized on the eve of the visit of a political delegation to Sandana. A mission led by Haroun Kabadi, the President of the Provisional Parliament, who is also Secretary General of the Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS), the party of the late Idriss Deby Itno.
