Miller Thomson is proud to welcome Me Bertrand Giroux.

Before joining Miller Thomson, Bertrand Giroux had been a partner for BCF since 1995. He was one of the founding members and co-head of the strategic restructuring and insolvency team.

His practice focuses on commercial litigation, including shareholder remedies, restructuring and bankruptcy. He advises business people, independent directors, boards of directors, corporations, trustees and more.

He also has extensive experience in privacy protection, reputational damage, unfair competition, crisis management and generally in commercial litigation.

“Bertrand Giroux is recognized by his peers for his intelligence, his tact and his skill when it comes to popularizing a file or in a situation of pressure”, mentions the firm on its website.

A great career

Me Giroux holds a law degree from the University of Sherbrooke and was called to the Bar in 1986.

He sat for three years on the Liaison Committee of the Barreau du Québec with the Commercial Division of the Superior Court of Québec. He is currently a peer reviewer of the National Creditor/Debtor Review, Butterworth’s bankruptcy and insolvency publication.

Over the past few years, Bertrand Giroux has been responsible for major litigation and restructuring operations, including the restructuring of Groupe Les Ailes de la Mode and Groupe Bikini Village.

He was also lead counsel to Avance Pharma in connection with its restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.

Among his important mandates, Bertrand Giroux was senior legal counsel for the Hexagone Group, in the context of its restructuring under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.

This year, he was awarded the title of “Litigation Stars” by Benchmark Litigation Canada. He was also recognized in the Best Lawyers in Canada legal directory for his expertise in insolvency law and financial restructuring.
