Corsica continues to burn after the attack on Yvan Colonna in prison. This Tuesday, March 15, his lawyers will file a request for suspension of sentence.
While the riots in Corsica do not weaken, Me Patrice Spinosi, lawyer for the Colonna family, was the guest of France Inter this Tuesday, March 15. He indicated that the “always very serious” state of health of Yvan Colonna could justify a suspension of sentence and specified that the prisoner’s lawyers are filing a request to this effect.
“This is the request filed for there to be consideration of the medical situation,” said the lawyer, who also specifies that it would indeed be a “provisional” suspension, pending Yvan Colonna’s state of health is improving, which would imply a reassessment of the prisoner’s imprisonment by a sentence enforcement judge.
Darmanin on site for the next two days
The clashes have multiplied in the last ten days in Corsica, since the attack at the beginning of the month of Yvan Colonna by a fellow prisoner in the prison of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône), where he is serving a sentence of criminal imprisonment at life for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac in Ajaccio in 1998.
This Wednesday and Thursday, the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin is also going to Corsica “at the request of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister”, it is specified in this press release. The Minister of the Interior is “responsible for opening an unprecedented cycle of discussions from this Wednesday with all the elected officials and living forces of the Island”.
