Marine Le Pen in favor of a tax shelter for cats

POLITICS – “You need a doghouse for cats”, dropped Marine Le Pen in the National Assembly, in full examination of the finance bill. Friday, October 14, the deputy of the National Rally (RN) supported an amendment tabled by fifteen elected Republicans to encourage the sterilization of small felines.

Marine Le Pen and cats is a well-known love story. No doubt the Les Républicains deputies knew they could count on his support – even that of his entire group – by tabling an amendment to introduce a tax credit of 50% on sterilization costs, up to 80 euros for males and 120 for females. “The sum is quite ridiculous. A cat is sterilized once in its life. 50% of 80 euros is 40 euros over 10 or even sometimes 15 years. It is fundamental”pleaded Marine Le Pen at the podium. “We will vote for this amendment”she concludes.

“It’s a real subject of financial weight for the municipalities, which no longer know what to do to solve the problem. They are also animals that live on the streets, in the cold with diseases”she added.

Arguments in perfect agreement with those of the LR deputies who also mention the risks to public health “considering the diseases that stray cats can peddle” and a “imperative of environmental protection because of the damage caused by the predation of cats on biodiversity. “It is therefore the responsibility of the French State to establish a social support measure, as part of the contribution to the general interest represented by the citizen act of having your cat sterilized”, write the depositaries of the amendment, including the deputies Fabrice Brun, Pierre-Henri Dumont and Michèle Tabarot.

Despite this plea, the amendment was rejected by 97 votes against (53 for), under the impassive eye of Gabriel Attal. Loyal to their leader, 43 elected members of the RN group voted in favor. On the bench of the Republicans, they were finally… only four.
