For seven years, Joseph Zappia traveled the country in the company of Choupette, his little protege. But no question for him to make her travel in a transport cage!

Whether during his trip to Mont-Saint-Michel, his holidays in Carnon or even his walks in Lorraine, Choupette took advantage of the landscape… perched on his master’s head.

A busy adventurer’s life that ended on the 10e birthday of the hairball since the one who is nicknamed “madam minister”, due to her busy schedule, has decided to retire.

The meeting that changed everything

Between Joseph and Choupette, it all started on June 17, 2012 in Joeuf. As he was returning home, he discovered this little being lying on the ground.

When I approached this little thing lying on the ground, I realized that it was a kitten, barely a month and a half old, hungry and almost dead. I immediately took her to the vet, where she was able to receive treatment. I am certain that if she was abandoned it was because of her condition. Its “owners” did not want to pay.

Gradually, the duo became inseparable. So much so that Joseph could no longer go out without Choupette.

Initially, I carried her in my arms during our outings. The problem is that after a while, it started to get heavy. So I taught him to put himself on my shoulder. Little by little, it rose on my skull, never to move again today.

“Choupette the star”

As you can imagine, at each of its outings, the duo was the subject of all eyes. “As soon as we set foot outside, hundreds of people came to see us to pet Choupette or to take a picture with her. Generally, our story even ended up in the local press,” says Joseph.

Besides her travels, Choupette has also participated in many events.

The one who is also called “Choupette the star” did not just content herself with the local press. “She went over TF1, M6, France 2, France 3, C8but also on Dutch television and on German television, ”proudly points out the owner of the hairball.

Peaceful retreat

However, it is now high time for Choupette to take some rest. It is moreover “his decision”, affirms Joseph.

At the time, when the weather was nice, Choupette stood in front of the door and grumbled to get out. Now, when I ask her to go for a walk, she goes up to her room and groans. She is tired and needs a rest. I respect his choice.

A retirement that promises to be particularly peaceful for Choupette, who will be able to enjoy her own room and her five cat trees (just that!), but above all her master whom she loves more than anything.
