This dog named Pretinho accompanies a street sweeper known to his colleagues as Mineiro, as he walks the streets of Rio de Janeiro’s Campo Grande neighborhood in uniform.
Mineiro won an award at the Olympics of Rio de Janeiro 2016, better than any gold medal, for his faithful four-legged friend. Because of their great complicity, several images of these two friends have spread on the Internet, making the hearts of all Internet users capsize.
A dog in uniform accompanies his master who is a street sweeper every day
The man was cleaning up Olympic Park in Deodoro, in the western area of the city, when the homeless dog appeared in his life, abandoned, hungry and sick, hiding in an alley near a gas station.
Mineiro decided to take the helpless dog home and ensured that he made a full recovery. After three years together, their affection grew. The proximity between the two grew bigger when Pretinho started going out to “work” with Mineiro, accompanying him while he swept the streets once or twice a week.
Mineiro said G1:
“When I get in the car, he wants to come. He becomes desperate. He used to walk with me and he comes. He doesn’t disturb anything, he’s calm and waiting for me. If he is tired, he waits for me in the shade”.
When the sweeper is working, he makes sure the dog has everything he needs, namely food and water. The look of his shiny, well-groomed coat shows that he is definitely in good hands.
For this man, Pretinho is one of the smartest dogs and he considers him a son. With the help of a seamstress, Pretinho wears the uniform from the cleaning company for about a month now, and he’s still stealing everyone’s hearts and attention.
Since a photo of them walking the streets went viral on the internet, more people recognize them when they are at work. The sweeper claims not to be very internet savvy and was therefore very surprised to find out that he was in a photo with his animal.
Although the dog’s fame has made many people want to take pictures while they work, he refuses to leave the dog at home because being around him makes him happier. Indeed, it gives him peace of mind. Mineiro says Pretinho is everything to him, he is her greatest joy in her life.
