Mattresses, wooden structures, ball pool, so many places to relax for residents like no other. In Casson (Loire-Atlantique) Sylvain created Pierredon a cat boarding housecalled Mr. Human.

This animal lover founded this company in October 2020. In just under four years, Gardois has undertaken several developments to contribute to the happiness of wild domestic animals.

Loire-Atlantique: it welcomed 117 cats this summer

For his fourth summer at the helm of the cat shelter, Sylvain Pierredon has busy days. “I worked 18-hour days, there is a high demand for boarding,” confides this cat enthusiast.

“This summer I had a highlight 117 cats »adds the one who also makes home visits. Throughout the summer, the cat boarding house welcomed holiday guests’ cats, sometimes e.g cats from Algeria or Luxembourg.

“The cats are also on holiday when they come here,” explains the manager.

If the activity during the summer holidays is closer, it remains important throughout the year according to Sylvain Pierredon.

250 m2 extension

Each room reveals its own atmosphere that seeks the calmness and development of the animal. A plant decoration is omnipresent in all rooms, when a pond with fish adorns other rooms.

“I wanted to do something that you don’t see anywhere else,” admits Sylvain Pierredon. If during our visit some felines ask for petting, others are taking a nap or having fun.

“The concept is more a guest room for cats than a hotel,” says the manager of the cat boarding house. Since the opening, there are 250 m² building extensions were carried out.

Among the new features is a giant cat tree in a 100m space² where there is a playground and track where the cat can stay. A course made from reclaimed wood.

Here the cat can do things that it cannot do at home. The goal is to make him see things that he is not used to.

A new price

Accompanied by two retired employees, Sylvain Pierredon carries out parallel activities with Mr. Human: sale of pet food, dog walks, home care and animal taxi for cats.

From September 1, the manager will offer new prices for his cat boarding with a daily price ranging from 8 euros for a single box to 15 euros for the capuchin treetop adventure course.

“Customers will be able to choose more childcare options within the pension,” explains Gardois. In short, the owner can choose where his cat will stay within the cat pension.

“I do not charge for taking medicine, sending pictures and videos or for brushing the cat during the stay at the boarding house,” adds the manager.

Customers trust us, their cat is a member of their family.

The tenant of the premises in Casson, Sylvain Pierredon, plans to buy the building. In the medium term, the pet lover plans to expand the premises, in particular by creating an outdoor space “where cats can romp in the grass”.
