A cat bar has just opened in Rouen, where you can adopt abandoned cats

See my news

Strictly speaking, there was no longer a cat bar in Rouen. But since the beginning of October 2024, this is no longer the case, since the coffee cat has opened the doors a stone’s throw from the town hall.

From laboratory technician to cat bar manager

In the lead, Malaurie Franco, 25 years. Former laboratory assistantthe young woman felt the need to do work that had more meaning during the Covid-19 period. “My job was not social and human enough. »

“I thought about it and I said to myself that it would be more appropriate to have a café,” Malaurie continues. But she didn’t start head first. She first trained as a barista at Couleur Café and worked at Social Perk in Rouen. And she matured her concept.

“I grew up in the country, surrounded by lots of animals: turtles, cats, alpacas, tarantulas…” Rest assured, it was the cats who had her services, she who took care of them night and day of kittens.

Cats to adopt

In line with her values, she therefore opened a café where you can meet and adopt abandoned cats. “I work together with the association A hope for tomorrow. In fact, I am a classic host family. But potential adopters can meet the cats at the café. »

Those interested in adopting can fill out a form at the cafe. Then it is the association that takes over and takes care of the rest.

Since opening, Hug“who lives up to his name”, has already found a potential adoptive family.

In the cafe, certain rules must be observed for the sake of the animals. We don’t feed them, we don’t wake them, we don’t force them, we don’t shout…

The map pageCoffee Cat offers “specialty coffee, a selection of teas, homemade pastries such as cinnamon rolls and savory specials”. All, insists Malaurie, “with seasonal products”. In a pastel and “cocooning” atmosphere, the young woman hopes to “bring comfort to the people of Rouen”. Not so bad in this autumn period…
