A stray cat joined a walking group and charmed everyone, eventually finding the good life she had always wanted.

While on his way home from work, Meagan, president of PuppyKittyNYCity, received a message about a cat that needed help.
A friend turned up wandering in a park when a senior walking group called the Striders were doing their exercises. She decided to join them and happily strolled around the park with them.
“She was found exercising with a group of seniors. Obviously she just wanted a friend,” PuppyKittyNYCity told.

The cute tabby walked beside the seniors, matching their pace. If they slowed down, so did she. If they sped off, she followed them. Soon everyone fell in love with their little feline friend and wanted to help her.

A worker from the walking club, who also volunteers with PuppyKittyNYCity, contacted Meagan for help. “She’s too kind to be born on the street. She was full of fleas, hungry, thirsty and really needed help. I happened to be closed so I went and scooped her up,” Meagan shared.
The cat, affectionately named Strider after the walking group, gulped down a cup of water and gobbled down her food as if she hadn’t eaten in days.

When Meagan arrived, Strider greeted her like an old friend. After some gentle caressing, she let Meagan pick her up and hold her like she was ready to leave the streets for a better place.
“We always operate at excess capacity, but we can’t say no when cats like Strider end up in our DMs.”

Although Strider was a little nervous in the car, she began to relax as she sat on Meagan’s lap.
For a long time she had roamed the streets in search of food, water and companionship with no one to claim her. She stumbled across the group of walkers and stayed with them until help arrived. Now snuggled up with Meagan, she purred contentedly as if her mission was accomplished.

Meagan and her team took the cat to the vet where she was treated and paid. Now free of fleas and no longer hungry, Strider quickly filled up and her personality began to shine through.
“She is an absolute gem – perfectly sweet, chatty and trusting. She delighted everyone at our shelter and then sashayed out of her carrier when we brought her home to nurse.”

Strider thrives on human affection and enjoys being the center of attention. “She is independent but also loves to curl up next to you on the sofa and sleep with you in your bed. She is a little gray tabby with beautiful eyes and the cutest face.”
She quickly found her favorite perch – her foster mother’s shot and melted into her as she fell asleep.

Strider has really blossomed since he was rescued from life on the streets. With the help of the senior group and volunteers, her dream has come true: a loving family was happy for the sweet tabby and welcomed her into their home.
After wandering the streets hoping someone would notice her, she now lives the life she always wanted, following her forever humans around the house as their most loyal companion.
