For Hugo and Elvis, a dog and a cat who had been going through hell for a week, the intervention of the SPA and the authorities was a real liberation. The 2 animals had been left alone in an apartment by their owner, without food or water.
Accompanied by the gendarmerie and firefighters, the SPA of Lyons rescued a dog and a cat locked in an apartment in the Lyon region, reported NewsLyon.
The intervention took place on Wednesday, July 13. The ordeal of these animals had begun a week earlier, their owner having left without really caring for their fate. This was noted by the SPA when contacting him after the rescue, the person in question having been evasive as to the date of his return.
Hugo10-year-old Terrier, and the 4-year-old feline called Elvis suffered not only from the unbearable heat reigning in the place, but also from hunger and thirst.
The firefighters deployed their large ladder to break a window and thus gain access to the accommodation. They found the canine locked in the kitchen and the cat in the living room. Hugo was in bad shape, visibly stressed and dehydrated.

Elvis’ general condition was equally concerning. He was skinny and also suffered from dehydration.

Complaint filed by the Lyon SPA
The workers noticed that there was no droppings in the apartment. A sign that the dog and the cat had been forced to feed on it in the absence of food.
They are currently at the SPA refuge in Lyons and receive all the care they need. The association has lodged a complaint against their owner and is asking that he be subject to a permanent ban on owning animals.
