HomeLawyera lawyer convicted in Lorient

a lawyer convicted in Lorient

A Parisian lawyer was sentenced to eight months suspended sentence this Monday by the Court of Lorient for having hit a pedestrian in a car on a protected passage on the evening of June 16, 2019 in Plouhinec in Morbihan. This 43-year-old man was driving an SUV and had fled. The victim, a 53-year-old former sea captain, had been injured with head trauma. He has also lost some of his cognitive abilities.

The motorist saw his driving license canceled and was ordered to pay 1,600 euros in damages to the injured. He believes, according to AFP, to have “underestimated the violence of the shock” and that he would have “had to stop.” The lawyer had at that time only one point left on his licence, and had been already convicted 19 years ago for hit and run.

The lawyer, who lives between Paris and Brittany, is also that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, presidential candidate. He announced that he would appeal the court decision.
