This is the big story of the summer. A few residents of La Gaillardnear Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), collected a litter of five kittens before putting them up for adoption.
It all started around 15 May 2024 when a cat arrived at their home. She was thin, but her stomach was very round.
“We contacted vets and associations, but they couldn’t take her due to a lack of adequate infrastructure,” says Gaillardais.
The five little cats were born on 1eh June 2024.
Sterilizations and vaccinations
Exceptionally, the couple became a host family. “There are fewer and fewer of them because it takes time and space,” it laments Stephanie Montronvolunteer in the association In the heart of the cats in Fécamp which operates in the sector for community of communes in the Côte d’Albâtre.
The structure covered the costs of sterilization of the kittens’ mother, but also the identification of the kittens and their first vaccinations. She will also take care of their sterilization from 1eh December.
The cost of adoption, with this care included, is €200 for a man and €220 for a woman.
Vanilla is waiting for you
Meanwhile, they are still in La Gaillarde, with their host family. The little ones haven’t left the house yet, they are very cute, clean and sociable. If four kittens have already found their new owners, little Vanilla is still up for adoption.
“In general, it is people from the sector who adopt our cats,” emphasizes Stéphanie Montron, from the Au Cœur des chats association in Fécamp. “We don’t want them to go anywhere,” she adds.
She explains that the mother, sterilized, was released in the place where she was caught: “We always work this way, cats are territorial animals. »
Host families are needed
The association is always looking for foster families for the kittens it finds. And sometimes some stay among them… This will be the case with the Gaillardais couple, who decided to keep a kitten that she took special care of: “Its eyes were glued together. We thought he had an illness like a cold, but he was simply allergic to the hay that the mother had given birth to. »
