The owner of a dog went to the Cagnes-sur-Mer police station to file a complaint against X, this Friday at the end of the afternoon. According to her, her pet had just been shot in Saint-Laurent-du-Var. Observations drawn from a consultation with a veterinarian, who had just operated on this American shepherd to try to remove a lead bullet from him.
Two police crews quickly went to the scene of the supposed events, Corniche d’Agrimont. The 54-year-old suspect was arrested at his home. The agents found a pellet rifle there, a weapon which does not require authorization to be possessed. However, it was seized and then destroyed.

If it is difficult to know precisely the reasons for this supposed aggression, it would seem that the fifty-year-old has decided to act to put an end to the nuisance caused by the pet. A version that the mistress of the beast does not want to believe. “The dog stays locked up at home, I asked other neighbors and he does not bark”, she says at the end of the line. Some voices report recurring problems caused by the suspect.
One thing is certain: the latter was placed in police custody in Cagnes-sur-Mer and then released. He will be tried in correctional court in Grasse, a hearing scheduled for March.
If the case of the animal therefore required an operation, it was out of the woods yesterday at the end of the day. However, he must remain under surveillance.
Two associations have already decided to bring civil action in this case: the Alliance for the respect and protection of animals, as well as the Animal Protection Federation. Accused of serious abuse or acts of cruelty to a domestic animal, the Laurentin faces a three-year prison sentence and a fine of 45,000 euros.
