A new shelter for abandoned and abused animals planned in Oise

See my news

His actions to save animals in need are increasing. We meet Nadia Djellal, the association’s president Animals without shelter in the Jardiland store in Rantigny (Oise), where she takes several weekends a year to offer dogs and cats for adoption.

This woman, who is committed to the animal cause, is questioned from all sides. She responds to all, future adoptive “parents”, volunteers or acquaintances, with patience and passion.

We dare not interrupt it at the risk of compromising the start of a new life for one of its residents who meows or barks, just a few months old or who already has a very damaged life trajectory.

The association also takes care of livestock

That day she was preparing to acquire a very young calf, saved at the last minute from the slaughterhouse. For the association Animaux sans roof does not only take care of dogs or cats, although they are the majority.

But also approx 70 livestock (calves, goats, pigs, sheep) birds and even rodents ! The latter are not adoptable but are fed, maintained and cared for by the association, created more about ten yearswhich today consists of around twenty volunteers.

It was her love for animals that pushed Nadia to welcome and gather more and more of them under her own roof. Faced with ever-increasing costs that are becoming difficult to cover, Nadia has created an association to collect donations from surrounding shops that will help her meet the needs of her protégés.

A project to create a haven in Bury

Things accelerate when an accident makes her association and its actions better known: Nadia is contacted by the Creil police after the unfortunate death of a dog, Princess, locked in a car and died of suffocation.

The police do not dare to take her out of the car and call Nadia. The dramatic story of Princess will resonate on social networks, and the name of Nadia’s association will circulate.

Nadia Djellali, head of the Animaux sans roof association, poses here with 7-year-old Stella, a “very friendly and child-friendly” dog, for whom she hopes to quickly find an adoptive family.

But Nadia’s place is running out. Thus the project to create a haven was born. She acquired a plot of 3 hectares Burynear the Ars plateau, “with my own money”, she explains, not without pride.

If the sheep, goats and calves have already been able to tread the grass on this land located at the edge of the forest, to house the few 150 cats and about thirty dogsof building permits are necessary before establishing the refuge there.

Without grants, the association needs donations

“We want to create a shelter, a boarding house, a pound and an educational farm”, aims Nadia, who wants to best meet all the specific needs of animals, and she strives to open this place during the year 2025.

In the meantime, she continues to ask for donations of food, blankets, toys, “because the association has no grants,” she laments. A Leetchi fundraiser has been opened to fund vet expenses and financial donations can also be made by check to Nadia.

Adoption weekends at Jardiland in Rantigny

Until the shelter opens, it is possible to meet Nadia, the volunteers in her association and the adopted animals during the presentation weekends at Jardiland in Rantignywhich recently got a makeover.

Nadia calls for witnesses to the suffering of the animals she takes in: “Don’t buy, adopt, save lives”, but insists that future adopters live in the unit and have the right conditions to welcome an animal into their home . “For a large dog, land is absolutely necessary,” she insists. “By adopting an animal, you save two lives: your own and the person who takes its place”
