a woman confesses to having killed her neighbor because of dog barking

A crime with a derisory motive? A 51-year-old woman confessed to having fatally shot his 80-year-old neighbor in Soings-en-Sologne (Loir-et-Cher) because of the barking of the dog of the latter and was indicted for murder, indicated, Tuesday, July 19, the prosecutor of Blois.

The facts occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. Firefighters found the death of an 80-year-old woman, hit by gunfire and found “lying in the immediate vicinity of her sofa”according to a press release from the public prosecutor of Blois, Frédéric Chevallier.

The autopsy confirmed “that the shots fired one on the right flank and the other on the left flank of the victim were the cause of death”. A 51-year-old woman, resident of the town and unknown to justice, declared to be the shooter.

Hunting rifle

The respondent explained to the investigators that he had “frequent and regular verbal altercations with his neighbor, the victim, about barking dogs“. On Sunday, she left her house between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. armed of one of the four shotguns which she had at home with two cartridges.

“She showed up at the neighbors gate screaming that she was going to kill her”. Disarmed by her neighbors at first, she then returned home, repeating “that someone had to kill her”.

A few moments later, two shots were heard. “The lady had taken a new rifle from her home, entered her neighbor’s house by climbing a fence and then shot her twice,” the statement continued.

She was indicted on Tuesday for “premeditated intentional homicide” and remanded in custody. She incurs life imprisonment. The Romorantin-Lanthenay research brigade was responsible for the investigation.
