A Canadian animal protection association sent an officer to rescue a dog that was visibly abandoned. When she arrived on the scene, she understood that the rescue was going to involve much more than just one animal.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of British Columbia (BC SPCA) had been alerted to a dog thought to be abandoned and in need of help, nearAgassiz in southwestern Canada.
Arrived on site, the volunteer sent by the association quickly located the animal in distress. The 4-year-old female Pitbull cross, which would later be called dallashad clearly given birth recently.
” She approached our agent and guided her through the thick brush “, recount Eileen Drevnerresponsible for BC SPCAto the media Kamloops Now. She followed the dog for 150 meters in the middle of the vegetation, then it stopped in front of a bush. The volunteer discovered a hole there that the dog had dug to hide her 9 puppies.

“An incredible mom”
The small canids, aged 2 weeks, and their mother were all transported to the refuge of the BC SPCA at Chilliwack, about twenty kilometers away. ” She’s an amazing mom who knew her puppies needed help », says Eileen Drevner.
After investigation, the association discovered that dallas had an owner. Contacted, the latter explained that the dog had disappeared and that he believed her to be dead. He added that he was no longer able to keep her, even less her little ones, and therefore decided to give them to the BC SPCA.
All 10 dogs were seen by a veterinarian. The puppies are doing very well. Their mother follows a specific diet allowing her to regain weight gradually. They were all placed in foster care.
