Billionaire and philanthropist George Soros leaves the keys to his empire to his son Alexander

American billionaire and philanthropist George Soros, 92, is in the process of handing control of his empire to his son Alexander Soros, 37, who particularly wants to fight the possibility of a return of Donald Trump to power, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

“More political” than his father

In an interview at WSJ published this Sunday, June 11, 2023, Alexander Soros explains that he is “more political” than his father, and that he worries that former Republican President Donald Trump may be re-elected to the White House in 2024.

“I would love to see money not play such a big role in politics, but as long as the other side does it, we’ll have to keep doing it too.”he told the economic daily.

“Our camp needs to be more patriotic and inclusive,” he thus declared. “Just because someone votes for Trump doesn’t mean they’re lost or racist.”

Alexander Soros was elected chairman of the foundation’s board in December and now heads the political activities collectively within the “super PAC,” a structure that disburses funds to the campaigns of political candidates.

An investment fund that commits itself to various purposes

Hated by ultra-conservatives, regularly the target of attacks with anti-Semitic overtones, George Soros began in the 1980s to create a network of foundations (“Open Society Foundations” or OSF), which invest worldwide in favor of various causes, economic and legal reforms, minority and refugee rights and freedom of expression.

First known for his talents as an investor and speculator, George Soros used his money to defend his ideas, from the fight against apartheid in South Africa to supporting democracy activists in dictatorships.
