At the exit of the cinema, community center or performance hall, it is a perfect place to eat or simply have a drink. Since the end of August 2024, the restaurant has Espace Monestié, a true cultural center in Plaisance-du-Touchwest of Toulouse, has changed hands. After Le Theatro, it’s time for L’Amanda, a new Italian address run by its director Audrey, who luckily is also a 7th art fan!
A menu that evolves with the seasons
“Amanda is the first name of the daughter of Christopher Kandelthe restaurant manager,” Audrey introduces. After the closure of the old brand, the professional – already at the head of the Le Plaisancier brewery in the city – responded to the tender launched by the town hall, the commercial buildings belonging to the community.
Within this new address, which works with both French products and small Italian producers, the atmosphere is meant to be family friendly. “The menu will change with the seasons. At the moment we still offer salads, but we see that customers are turning more and more towards dishes with sauces, notes Audrey. For our winter menu, for example, we will offer polenta using seasonal products.”
From Italian cinema to the plates
As much for passing customers as for those who want to have a real meal break, L’Amanda wants to satisfy all wishes and especially offers a formula for €20 for lunch. The restaurant can accommodate 60 people indoorsand just as much on the terrace. “Between the kitchen and the dining room, there are about ten of us in the team. »
To choose from, there are various antipasti with platters for sharing, but also salads and pastas, without forgetting the pizzas! A nod to the restaurant’s location and also to Audrey’s passion for cinema, these all bear the names of major films: The Godfather, Life is Beautiful, Roman Holiday… On the decoration side, the manager plans to install posters of Italian actors.
Tasting and concert activities
In collaboration with the cinema and performance hall Espace Monestié, the restaurant can adapt its opening hours and its offer according to major events. “It brings a little life to the square. During the International Historical Fiction Film Festival [qui s’est tenu en septembre au cinéma de Colomiers, NDLR]we welcomed actor and director, as well as the public, sometimes chaining screenings over the course of a day,” says Audrey.
Amanda also wants to offer her own activities, including Italian wine tastings. “Already in November we were to host our first acoustic concerts. »
