The start of the school year promises to be complicated for Deliveroo, sentenced by the Paris court to pay 9.7 million euros to URSSAF. The sentence was rendered this Thursday, September 1, 2022, because the meal delivery platform was found guilty of “hidden work”, having failed to pay contributions and social security contributions, according to AFP.

This “incident” is not an isolated case. Indeed, this decision follows multiple convictions against Deliveroo. In 2020, the company had already been accused of “willingness to defraud the labor code” following the complaint of a delivery man. In April 2022, the platform does it again! In question, the employment of delivery men under independent status, from 2015 to 2017, while the context (surveillance and sanctions) was more akin to a relationship of boss to employee. Facts of “concealed work” which had already been condemned by the Paris court up to a fine of 375,000 euros.
