Yoda’s journey to a loving home was anything but easy. Her early life was spent confined to a cage in Moscow, where her sole purpose was to give birth to litter after litter of puppies. Her diet consisted of bread crumbs and oil, leaving her weak and malnourished. She had no opportunity to experience life beyond the cage, no exposure to the outside world or human affection. Eventually she was rescued from the puppy mill and taken to a shelter where she stayed for two months before being transferred to Finland. That’s when her life started to change for the better.
When Yoda’s current owner first saw her, it was love at first sight. “There was something in her eyes and I was like, she looks like my dog,” she shared in the video below. When Yoda arrived at her new home, she quickly formed a bond with her new mother. Despite her difficult past, she showed remarkable confidence and followed her everywhere.
Within a week, Yoda ventured outdoors and cautiously explored his new environment. Although she was still nervous about loud noises, she began to enjoy meeting people and other dogs. Her transformation was remarkable, her once timid demeanor disappearing as she grew more confident. Originally wary of men, Yoda now readily greets everyone.
Yoda’s personality blossomed in her new home. She is incredibly expressive and often moves her mouth as if trying to speak, which her owner finds endearing. “She looks like she’s trying to talk, but nothing’s coming out,” she said with a laugh. Yoda’s warmth is another quality that everyone notices. “If anyone touches her, they always say, ‘Oh my God, she’s so hot.’ She is just such a gentle and warm soul.”
Despite his uncertain age – estimated to be between seven and ten – Yoda remains active and alive. She has learned to treasure her toys, hiding them under the bed to keep them safe, and her playful energy lights up every room she enters. Her owner describes her as an intuitive companion who seems to sense her emotions. “If I’m not feeling well, she looks at me like, ‘What’s going on?’ We just understand each other so well.”

Shockingly, this is not the first time she has been accused of animal cruelty; she has a previous conviction for similar crimes. We must ensure that no more animals suffer or die in her care!
Yoda’s resilience and loving nature have brought immense joy to her family’s life. Yoda is proof of the incredible transformation that love and care can bring. Rescue dogs really are the best!
